Monday 30th July 2007

The Sports Trader has started another week with a reasonable profit after trading on 10 horse races with just 1 loss.

My first trade of the day was in the 15:15 at Wolverhampton and it was this one that gave me my only loss of the day after I had laid Palm Court for £25 @ 4.00 and then backed back £10 @ 7.20 to result in a loss of £13.

In the 15:30 at Yarmouth I backed Rosy Alexander for £650 @ 1.03 to result in a profit of £17. Next was the 16:15 at Wolverhampton I laid Norcroft for £16 @ 15.50 to result in a profit of £16.

My next three trades all resulted in small profits. In the 20:15 at Galway I laid Mullach Na Si for £22 @ 30.00 and backed back £5 @ 47.00 to result in a profit of £17.

The best result of my day came in the 20:20 at Uttoxeter where I laid Aristi for £65 @ 6.92 and then backed back £14 @ 25.00 to result in a profit of £51. My last trade of the day resulted in a small profit.

My day had finished with a profit of £113.

I did also take a position on the 2nd Test match where I had backed India for £500 @ 1.42 and towards the end of today's play I had laid off @ an average price of 1.18. I then laid a further £118 @ 1.02 to leave me with a profit of £118 whatever the result. This profit will be included in tomorrows result when the market is settled.

It is well worth having a look at the Betdaq Exchange Views Blog as it has been given a face-lift for the up coming Goodwood Festival and has also got a feature on the Galway Festival by Justin Carthy of the Chronicle Bookmakers.

Sunday 29th July 2007

This was another one of those very slow days for the Sports Trader where I only managed to trade on 7 horse races and 1 golf tournament.

I started my day off with my only losing trade of the day and this came in the 15:15 at Ascot where I backed Mull of Dubai for £50 @ 1.01 to lose £50.

I plodded on through the rest of the day but only managed to get small profits in all of my remaining 6 race trades.

I had ended my race trading with a loss of £35.

In the evening I traded on the Canadian Open Golf Tournament. With three holes to play I backed Jim Furyk for £307 @ 1.15 and then later went on to back him again for £455 @ 1.05 which resulted in a profit of £61.

My day had therefore ended with a profit of £25.

This has been an exceptionally quite week for me as I have only traded on 64 events, but with just 4 losing trades, and this has left me with a profit of £1030 on the week.

Saturday 28th July 2007

This was not a great day for the Sports Trader. I traded on 15 races and had just 1 loss but it was a big one.

I had a lot on my mind today and had to get organised to take my three youngest to their Grandfather's 60th Birthday party so my trading was not up to scratch. I started off with the 13:55 at Newmarket where I backed Menadha for £20 @ 4.00 and laid off @ 3.00 to leave myself with a profit of £10. My next 6 trades all resulted in small profits.

Then came my losing trade, in the 15:30 at Newmarket where I had laid Medley for £195 @ 5.50 at about 2 furlongs out when she was under pressure to catch the leaders. I didn't think she was about to pick up therefore I laid her. Well I was wrong and she did stay on to win by a neck to cost me £877.

My next 2 trades both ended with small profits. In the 16:20 King George V1 and QE Stakes at Ascot I backed Dylan Thomas for £63 @ 1.45 to result in a profit of £28. My next two trades resulted in small profits.

My last trade of the day repaired much of the damage I had inflicted upon myself earlier. It was in the 17:25 at Ascot where I backed Edge Closer for £673 @ 2.10 to result in a profit of £741.

My day had therefore finished with a loss of £56.

Friday 27th July 2007

It was a slow day for the Sports Trader with 11 horse races and 1 darts match traded and just 1 losing trade.

Ten of my horse trades resulted in small profits, whilst the other one, in the 19:15 at Wexford, resulted in my loss. I had backed Cler for £100 @ 1.94 and later managed to lay off £50 @ 4.50 to result in a loss of £50.

My horse trading had ended with a loss of £9.

Later I traded on the Taylor v Jenkins darts match. I had started backing Phil Taylor at 1.20 and continued building my position up to the 1.84 mark. I laid off most of this position between 1.18 and 1.60 so I was in a losing position. I then made several trades backing Jenkins from 1.50 down to 1.05 and finished the game with a profit of £50.

My day had finished with a profit of £41.

Thursday 26th July 2007

The Sports Trader had a good day with 5 horse races and 1 football match traded and no losing trades.

My day got off to a good start in the 14:30 at Uttoxeter where I laid Over The Blues for £200 @ 2.80 before backing back £26 @ 2.85, £13 @ 3.00 and £17 @ 9.40 to leave me with a profit of £147.

My next trade was in the 15:40 also at Uttoxeter where I laid Professor Hegarty for £72 @ 9.00 and then backed back £25 @ 18.00 to result in a profit of £47.

My remaining 3 horse race trades all resulted in small profits and this left me with a profit from race trading of £199.

In the evening I had a trade on the Dundee Utd v Barcelona football match where I backed the under 2.5 goals market for £600 @ 1.02 in the 87th minute of the game with the score at 0 - 0, to result in a profit of £12.

My day had therefore finished with a profit of £211.

Wednesday 25th July 2007

This was a very quite day for the Sports Trader due to my best friend, Graeme coming to stay with us for the late afternoon and evening. I only managed to trade on 2 horse races.

My first trade was in the 15:35 at Lingfield where I laid Copywriter for £19 @ 2.00 to result in a profit of £19.  My last trade of the day was in the 17:20 at Catterick where I laid Borodinsky for £6 @ 31.00 to give me a profit of £6.

So my very short day had finished with a profit of £25.

You will notice I have added a link to another regular blogger, Jimmakos. This blog has a lot of good ideas and well worth a read.

I would also like to remind readers of Dave Stewart's blog Horsegraphs which has been having a very impressive winning run recently.

Tuesday 24th July 2007

The Sports Trader took a part of the day off, it was such good weather that I decided to take my three youngest children to Troon. We arrived at about 10:30 and spent the next 3 hours on the beach just playing all sorts of games and playing in the sea. We all had great fun and the only reason that we left when we did was that the sun was starting to burn us all.

I did get back after missing the first race at Yarmouth and  tried to trade in the remaining races but without getting matched in any.

I had one eye on the darts and had a trade in the Jenkins v Walch match where I backed Jenkins for £92 @ 1.30 and laid off @ 1.05. In the final leg I backed Jenkins for £2336 @ 1.03 and this resulted in a profit of £93.

I did manage to trade on some of the evening racing and started off with a small winning trade. Then in the 19:30 at Bangor I laid Loch Quest for £15 @ 5.00 before backing back for £4 @ 8.00 to result in a profit of £11.

I managed to suffer a big loss in the 20:30 at Bangor as I laid Drumossie for £70 @ 4.80 when I thought the horse had little chance of winning - how wrong can I get - this resulted in a loss of £266.

In the 21:00 at Bangor I laid Aristi for £141 @ 6.50 and a further £50 @ 25.00 to result in a profit of £191.

My race trading had ended with a loss of £63.

Later I settled down to watching the remaining darts matches and traded heavily on the Jenkins v Part match. I really enjoyed this trading which ended with me having 54 trades and resulted in a profit of £534.

My day had therefore finished with a profit of £564.

Monday 23rd July 2007

The Sports Trader feels back on track with a slow but solid day of trading with 10 horse races and 2 darts matches traded and  no losses on the day.

I started my day with 2 small winning trades. In the 15:15 at Ayr I backed Neil's Legacy for £17 @ 3.00 and then laid off £17 @ 1.25 to result in a profit of £29. I followed this with another small winning trade.

In the 17:00 @ Yarmouth I laid Polish Welcome for £15 @ 9.00 for a profit of £15. Next came another 3 small winning trades.

My last race trade of the day proved to be my best when, in the 20:50 at Windsor, I laid Moves Goodenough for £109 @ 10.00 before backing back £47 @ 15.35 and £5 @ 20.00 to result in a profit of £57.

My race trading had finished with a profit of £114.

In the Priestley v Osborne darts match I backed Priestley for £590  @1.28 and laid off within 30 seconds at 1.17 to leave myself a profit of £66.

Later in the evening I traded the Taylor v Newton darts match. I started with a back of The Power for £500 @ 1.25 and laid off @ 1.21. I then back him again for £250 @ 1.30 and laid this off @ 1.25. I had a few other small trades on the match and finished with a profit of £40.

My day had finished with a profit of £220.

Sunday 22nd July 2007

The Sports Trader didn't have the greatest of weeks trading wise. I think it was more to do with having a few days off and then trying to make up for the lack of trading that made me take bigger risks than I would normally take.

Friday 20th resulted in a loss of £815 after losing out in a photo finish to the tune of £500. This was one of my worst days for a while with only 5 winning trades and 5 losing trades.

Saturday 21st also resulted in a loss of £359. This was due mainly to a large loss of £425 in the 4:15 at Market Rasen where I had backed Osprey View for £425 @ 1.30 only to him beaten by Golden Alchemist in the final furlong.

Sunday 22nd ended my 3 day losing run when I turned in a profit of £324 on the day. I was again having a very bad day due to a £655 loss in the 15:35 at Fairyhouse but I turned my result around with the darts in the evening where I made a profit of £833 on the Painter v Gray match and a further £70 on the Scholten v Mason match.

After a very poor week I ended with a loss of £1018. I will be looking to recover this and more next week. I am sorry for the lack of postings recently but there has been quite a lot of turmoil in my life and I have had to spend a lot of time sorting out some personal problems, I hope to get back to normal over the next few days both with results and postings.

Thursday 19th July 2007

The Sports trader is back from my few days off in Ukraine. I can now confirm that Lugansk is the home of thousands of extremely beautiful women. You can walk down any street and they will be lined with model type women, all of them dressed perfectly in short skirts, tight jeans or figure hugging slinky short dresses. It is as if every street is a cat walk in a Paris or London fashion show. They are also very well educated. I will be going back with out a doubt. The average wage in this part of the world is around £100 - £150 / month, with many state workers earning just £40 / month. Petrol is less than 50p / Lt. The other thing that may interest you is that the average temperature during my stay was 35C with a possibility of 45C later this week. Their summers are summers and their winters are cold.

Well my first day back trading was not good. I am still having problems with my au-pair, it is not her fault, as she has family problems that have a knock-on effect on her availability and therefore to my trading.  I did trade on 17 races but had three losses, one of which was big.

My first trade resulted in a small profit. In the 14:20 at Hamilton I laid Premium Port for £18 @ 40.00 to result in a profit of £18.

In the 14:45 at Kilarney I laid That's Our Luck for £25 @ 38.00 for another £25 profit. I followed this with a small profit.

My first losing trade was in the 15:50 at Leicester where I had backed Rallying Cry for £8 @ 1.51 before cancelling the rest of this position to result in a loss of £8. Next came a small profitable trade.

The big loss of my day came in the 17:00 at Leicester where I had laid Alaghiraar for £60 @ 5.00, whilst having all sorts of traffic problems, well back in the field with a furlong to go, only to see Richard Hills do the almost impossible and get him up near the finish to cost me £239. Next came another small profit.

In the 17:20 at Cartmel I laid Edas for £33 @ 4.00 to result in a profit of £33. I followed this with another small profitable trade.

My third and final loss of the day came in the 17:40 at Hamilton where I backed Rare Coincidence for £30 @ 1.85 to cost me £30. My next 5 races all finished with small profits.

The last trade of my day came in the 20:20 at Sandown where I laid Encircled for 14 @ 16.00 to finish up with a profit of £14.

So my first day back has ended in a loss of £167.
