The secret of Sports Trading is discipline and on days like today, after such a good day of racing yesterday, discipline is needed. I only traded in 7 races, 1 football match and the AT & T Golf tournament today.

My first trade was in the 14:25 at Naas. I started with a back on Dunguaire Lad for £51 @ 3.25 before laying off @ 3.10 and later, just over the last fence, I backed Don't Be Bitin for £120 @ 1.10 to start the day with a £13 profit.

In the next at Naas, the 14:55, I laid Icklingham for £67 @ 5.00 and backed back £20 @ 12.00 and later greened up with a back of £2 @ 43.00, to leave me with a profit of £45. My next race was the 15:25 again at Naas and here I backed Carthalawn for £50 @ 1.20 on the run in for a profit of £10.

Next I had two small but profitable trades. In the 16:40 at Southwell I laid Comeintothespace for £44 @ 2.90 to net a profit of £44. I had one last race trade that was small and profitable, which left me with a race trading profit of £121.

The football match that I had time to trade was the Barcelona v Racing Santander game. I only started trading after the first goal had been scored. I laid the under 2.5 goals for £100 @ 2.00. I then laid off £50 @ 1.87, £25 @ 1.82 and £25 @ 1.76. Next I backed the unders again for £50 @ 1.79 and laid this off with lays for £25 @ 1.72 and £25 @ 1.58. I started greening up with lays of £5 @ 1.60 and £12 @ 1.50. The second goal was scored and soon after I backed the unders for £15 @ 3.50 before laying off £22 @ 2.26 to leave me with a profit of £25.

My day finished with a small trade on Phil Mickleson in the AT & T golf to net me a profit of £8. I have therefore finished the day with a profit of £154.

My week is also finished where I have managed to make a profit every day for a final result being a decent profit of £1678.

Another outstanding week of trading Ray - I don't know how you manage to do it (especially when the racing is as poor as it was for the majority of last week). As you say, the key is undoutedly discipline. I see endless 'opportunities' where I feel you could get caught out - but somehow you manage to avoid virtually all of them.
Personally, I cannot maintain the same level of discipline (I get bored/frustrated watching without an interest). I suspect that part of the reason for this is that I keep stakes very low, so it doesn't really matter if I dabble. However, I am struggling to raise my stakes to the point where it does matter, because I'm fearfull that I will get caught out the first time I do... Did you go through such a stage in the early days ? and if so, how did you over come it ?

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your most welcome comments. I did struggle in the early days with discipline and you are right it is the need to be involved to stop the boredom which is the biggest threat. What I did was to anaylise why I had so many losing trades and when I realised it was mainly those ones when I was bored that where costing me I made a real effort to cut them out. I then got in to, and still have, the mind set that if I just wait for the right opportunity I will make money. I now know with great confidence that these money making opportunities will come along so I just wait for them whilst watching every race.
The children have got Monday and Tuesday off for half term but my Au pair will come in for 1.00 both days so I should not miss any racing.
Good Luck and keep the discipline then you will make serious money in time.

Great weeks profit ray well done its certainly worth getting out of bed for lol.i got myself sky in my other room today so i can trade without any distractions a little workstation i was all set up and ready to go and my interenet started playing up so didnt manage one trade all day he he sods law i suppose.am hoping its sorted for tomorow should be.keep up the good work
