The Sports Traders 18 day winning streak came to an abrupt end today but not until the last race of the day. I traded in 16 UK horse races, 1 darts match and 2 football matches.
My first race trade was in the 13:50 at Southwell where I laid Mid Valley for £10 @ 12.00 and later, on the run in, I backed the winner, Doctor's Cave, for £34 @ 1.30 to start the day with a £20 profit. My next trade was a small winning one.
In the 14:10 at Haydock I laid Atahuelpa for £14 @ 5.00 with about 3 furlongs to go to land a profit of £14.
My next trade was in the 14:20 at Southwell where I laid Lawyer To The World for £37 @ 25.00 when in mid division and never looking like contending the finish to give me a profit of £37. I then had another small winning trade.
In the 14:40 at Haydock I backed Auntie Kathleen for £7 @ 5.60 for a profit of £31. Next I had to more small winning trades.
In the 15:30 at Nad Al Sheba I laid Blue Sky God for £14 @ 1.50 for a profit of £14. Next was the 15:35 at Huntingdon where I laid Lightning Strike for £13 @ 4.00 before backing the winner, My Turn Now, for £210 @ 1.01 at the final hurdle for a total profit on the race of £15.
Next was the 15:45 at Haydock and here I laid Nacadour for £3 @ 8.00 and backed Tyson for £100 @ 1.10 for a profit of £13.
In the 16:05 at Huntingdon I laid King of Gothland for £25 @ 10 before backing him for £5 @ 25.00 to net me a profit of £20. Next was the 16:15 at Haydock where I laid Artic Jack for £2 @ 25.00. I then backed Cobreces for £33 @ 2.13 before laying off £32 @ 1.20 and a further £25 @ 1.10 to finish the race with a profit of £30.
In the 16:45 at Haydock I backed Mister Potter for £100 @ 1.21 and a further £202 @ 1.02 for a profit of £25. I had one more small winning trade before my disaster in the last, the 17:15 at Haydock. I backed Castlecrossing for £580 @ 3.25 at about two furlongs out when going well after being held up for much of the race. She just didn't have the pace or stamina in the final furlong to keep with the eventual winner and I lost my £580.
My race trading day had therefore finished with a loss of £343.
As you know I like to trade in the Premier League darts matches and in the Lloyd - Scholten match I backed Colin Lloyd for £250 @ 1.22, £250 @ 1.33 and a further £178 @ 1.36 before laying off £320 @ 1.06 to land a decent profit of £182.
I had a few small trades on the other matches resulting in a very small profit but Amie was still not that well and I had to keep looking in on her so I didn't trade seriously.
I had a small trade on the Newcastle game where I backed the correct score line of 1-0 for £86 @ 1.20 with 4 minutes of the game remaining and laid off £50 @ 1.07 to earn a profit of £14.
I also did something similar in the Rangers match where I backed the correct score line of 3-0 for £167 @ 1.20 with 2 minutes of the game left plus injury time. I laid off £56 @ 1.04 before the last kick of the match which resulted in a 4th goal for Rangers and cost me £111, but at least Rangers are through to the last 16 of the UEFA Cup.
I have therefore finished my day's trading with a loss of £258.
Hi Ray
Definitely not a bad losing day, I had an ok day yesterday, recovering some of the money I blew on Barca HT. However like you I managed to get caught by the Rangers 4th, but only for 40 which was really annoying but a tiny loss in comparison to the night before......only 200 more to get back to where I was before the Valdes howler ;-)

Hi Ray
Do you know what's happening with the ATR Extra transmission for faster pix? Do you advise still trying to have a go with the old ATR with the delay?

Hi Rob,
It wasn't too bad it is just that when you are having a long run of winning days it seems harder to take a losing one. Goo Luck today.

Hi Brian,
I don't think anyone knows for sure what is happening with the ATR xtra picture delays. I hope it is just temporary. You would have thought that ATR could come out with an explanation one way or the other on this. If the delay is permanent I may start looking to set up SIS at home. Good Luck.

Hi Ray,
It looks as if ATRxtra will be down permanently. Apparently ATR pics are 4 seconds behind live pics, SiS 2.3 seconds behind.
Only problem with SiS is i think it costs £6k+ to install which is a lot of money.

Hi Adam,
I hope you are wrong but I know it is likely that the xtra pictures time advantage has gone. £6k is a lot but can be made in a few days if you have faster pics than most. Good Luck.

Hi Ray
Just a thought buy why don't you ask Russ at Betdaq to try and gets some answers from ATR about these changes. It's obviously in all punters interests to clear this up and you may have an indirect line in here.
Cheers

Hi Brian,
I am waiting to hear from Russ and will speak to him about Atr xtra.

Hi Ray,
Just a quick question, why such a big back for over £500? I've noticed most of your bets are kept quite small.
Posted by: John | 02/23/2007 at 02:47 PM
Hi John,
Just because it was there to be taken and at the time it looked good value. A lot of other trades that I take on are for similar amounts but I only get matched for smaller amounts.

Thanks Ray
Betfair do not give 2 hoots about what goes on with the in play markets. Would be a feather in Betdaq's cap if they stick up for the average punter.
Cheers

Hi Brian,
I will point that out to Russ and his colleagues, not that they don't already know, as I have spoken about it before.

If ATRxtra is permanently gone, in running betting will not exist as the liquidity on here will be awful.

Hi Adam,
It's not that bad, We managed before ATR Xtra and I am sure we will continue afterwards.

ATR Extra was supposed to be 2-3 secs faster than normal ATR. Did you find that your profitability / strike rate was vastly different when using Extra. Personally I found the low res on the Extra was a pain.
Thanks

Hi Brian,
I have found ATR Xtra to be a big advantage. I have a decent sized LCD screen and only ever watched Xtra in the small screen, i.e. not full screen mode. I found the resolution acceptable, I think I just got used to it.
It does look like there is a game of politcs being played out behind the sceens. I don't know who is to blame as everyone is pretty non commital about the whole thing. I have contacted SIS today and am starting to have a serious look at installing SIS.

I dont get why people would bet in-running without SiS or ATRxtra. I do not have SiS and rely on Xtra.
If people are relying on ATR to bet in-running then they are at a severe disadvantage.
Posted by: Adam | 02/25/2007 at 09:23 AM
Hi Adam,
There is no doubt it will be harder to make in running pay without ATRxtra. As you will see from my trading on Saturday all my decent results were at Kempton using terrestrial and RUK.

Ray
What do you know about people who bet whilst intercepting the raw SIS feeds from the racecourses? Surely they must take the whole lot?
Also any feedback from Russ about ATR Extra?

Hi Brian,
I know very little about people using raw SIS feeds except what I read on the forums.
I am still waiting to hear back from Russ but I know he was out representing Betdaq at racecourses last week so I sould hear early naxt week.
