Well today could go down as a day off as I had a party to attend at my best friend's house in Aberdeen. It was Graeme's wife's 40th Birthday. I first met Graeme in 1977 when I moved from Hertfordshire to Aberdeen. He was a student at Clinterty Agricultural College and I worked on the College farm. When Graeme had finished his course he became Head Pig man on the College farm. We had many a drinking session in and around Aberdeen for the 7 years I spent in that area of Scotland and it has to go down as the best few years of my life. We have always kept in touch and probably get to meet up five or six times a year. It was great to meet up with many friends from that era. I took my 6 year old to the party as Graeme has a son, Fraser, who has always been good friends with Zoe.
I did have a trade on 3 races and 1 football match before we set off on our 3 hour journey. Two of my race trades ended up with small profits and the third was in the 14:45 at Goodwood where I laid Eddie Jock for £16 @ 9.20 to result in a profit of £16.
My football trade was on the first match of the Scottish Premiership season between Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Rangers. I only had a few quick trades towards the end of the match and started with a back of the under 2.5 goals for £195 @ 1.83 which I laid off @ 1.65. Later I backed the unders for £370 @ 1.35 and had laid off £250 @ 1.28 and £112 @ 1.20 when in the final minute of the game Rangers went and scored a third goal which left me with a loss of £9. I should have greened up for a profit of around £35, and I had plenty of opportunity to but I thought Rangers would just play out the last few minutes by keeping possession. As it happens a very poor piece of defending gifted Rangers their third goal.
That was the end of my day's trading and I ended up with a profit of £12.
