A total wipe out of the UK racing scene today due to high winds. Will they now have to call our All Weather tracks, Most Weather Tracks. There is no doubt that the Stewards took the right decision as racing would have been dangerous. Lets hope tomorrows two remaining meetings get the go ahead along with Saturday's card.
I did have a little bit of trading in two of the Nad Al Sheba races and made a small profit on each. I also had a little trade on Ronnie the Rocket v Ken Doherty again with a very small profit.
I had a look at the football tonight mainly due to the boredom of having little trading to do today. I backed the unders for £35 @ 1.91 in the Hibs V Aberdeen match. The gods are still shunning me as soon after a goal was scored. Then a second was scored and I then backed the unders just before half time for £50 @ 6.4 to lower my break-even exit point, and again a goal was scored so I decided to watch Judge John Deed.
My result for the day was therefore a loss of £76.
The football is dangeros of late. I try and get out after a 20% drop and take 10% each way.
A lot of people must be following you as it's taking to long for the market to drop to get out before a goal is scored.
Got caught out badly with united on saturday and hibs today by reentering the market agian and again after goals.
It may be better to let the bet run after an early goal is scored.

Hi Ray,
When you get tempted by the football, you should go back and read the final paragraph of your entry from Tuesday... Presumably you wrote this so that we could all act as your conscience when you slip up !
I know it's difficult to resist with all of the racing abandoned (and consequently your main source of income, cut-off) but discipline is the key (though I'm sure you don't need me to tell you this !).
Hopefully the weather will improve over the next few days and you can get back to focusing of the horses...
Andrew.

Theowel & Andrew,
There are certainly a lot more goals of late which is not good for my type of trading. Discipline is the key and you are right I should stay away form football at the moment. Good Luck to you both.

Hi Ray
Its true football has been different of late with lots of goals....but is this a long term trend? my answer would be no...is it a short term blip? my answer would be yes.
The stats show that the makeup of the game never really changes, whatever rules they bring in, it all soon settles back to the average 2.5 goals per game....the goals ratio is now slightly higher after starting the season slightly lower, this can be down to a few factors including weather (wind etc), cup games etc
All in all don't give up as it will all level out and as you are more than aware if you are trading at value in the longterm you will win!

Ray
You have been having soome bad days of it and it is good to see you are back to winning ways.
I am looking at the possibility of not having the use of IRIS soon and without the TV pictures I will not be trading on the horses. I am wondering if I got satellite if I would be OK with the time delay in seeing the picture to do what I do with laying losers ??
So for now I am looking at doing some trading of the forex market. At least it is not going to be affected by the weather as it was on Thursday. I have found a sweet little system for the forex and I have turned a 10k demo account into nearly 20k since 1st December. Trouble is that I will have to use my betting bank to do the forex trading, can't afford yet to do both.
I will miss doing the horses and football though. At soome point I will give myself back a betting bank and get back to it.
I do like the trading on the under over 2.5 and I think I have learned a bit reading your blog.

Hi Rob,
I will still keep an eye on the market but will tread very carefully as I do not want to give away my racing profits. Good Luck.

Hi Wizardgold,
I use normall satelite pictures for my race trading so I am sure you will be able to continue. Why will you not have IRIS?
I used to trade the FX markets back in the early 90's. I used IG Index and had some decent results, the only reason I stopped was because I needed my capital for a business that I was involved in. Do you use a service like IG or do you trade directly with an FX firm? Good Luck with your trading.
