It's been a very sad day for the Sports Trader. This is the first year since 1974 that I haven't received a Valentines Card from a Special woman. I did get three from my kids and I will make do with them. Unlike the lucky Russ Wiseman of Betdaq who says on today's Exchange Views that he received 15, I don't believe him, but then I am jealous.
We have had much more racing today and a lot better quality than of late. I traded on 10 races, and 2 football matches.
My first trade, in the 13:55 at Fairyhouse, was my only losing race of the day. I laid the eventual winner, Prince Picasso, for £100 @ 2.50 just after the last hurdle when headed by the runner up, Hidden Agent, to cost me a painful £150.
In my next race, the 14:00 at Mussleburgh, I almost made amends by laying Middleton Dene for £200 @ 1.90 before backing back £100 @ 2.50 and £13 @ 3.50. On the run in I laid him for a further £45 @ 12.00 to end the race with a profit of £133.
My next was the 14:25 at Fairyhouse and here I backed Offshore Account for £57 @ 2.67 to earn a profit of £94. I then had a small but profitable trade.
In the 14:40 at Leicester I backed the very short priced favourite, Chief Yeoman, for £133 @ 1.15 and laid off @ 1.05. I backed him again for £26 @ 1.04 on the run in to net a profit of £14.
My next race was the 15:55 at Fairyhouse. I started with a lay of £124 @ 4.00 on Condara, once headed at about half distance. I backed him for £94 @ 4.55 and a further £5 @ 7.00 to cover my liability and then had a small back on the winner, Stabalan Lass, to net me a profit of £26.
In the 16:00 at Mussleburgh I laid Kings Quay for £9 @ 4.00 to make a profit of £9. Next was the 16:10 at Leicester where I laid To The top for £10 @ 5.00 before covering this with a back of £9 @ 6.00. I then laid Hopesarising for £55 @ 3.95 and backed back £45 @ 4.30. In the final furlong I backed Chita's Flight for £10 @ 1.20 and £32 @ 1.06 to give me a profit of £15 on the race.
My next race was the 16:25 at Fairyhouse where I backed Here Comes Sally for £100 @ 2.22 just before she was headed at the last hurdle to give me an uncomfortable few seconds before she regained the lead and go on to win by just over a length to make me a profit of £122. I had one more very small but profitable trade to leave me with a profit on my race trading day of £265.
I watched the Hapoel Tel-Aviv v Rangers match from just after the half-time interval. I backed the under 2.5 goals, just after the second goal had been scored, for £20 @ 2.70 and laid off @ 2.20. So when the third goal was scored no harm was done, I just missed out on a potential profit of £10. Later I did back the under 3.5 goals for 36 @ 1.55 and laid this off @ 1.12, which resulted in a profit of £16.
I also had a few very small trades on the Bolton v Arsenal match to gain me another £4. So my day had finished with a total profit of £285.
I normally read about a dozen blogs written by other traders everyday and on one of these, The Betfair Trader, posted a very interesting article yesterday entitled Going Full Time On Betfair, I would encourage everyone to read this especially if you are a part-timer and looking to start full time trading.
Cards are over rated mate. I didn't get any either.

Hi Brian,
Atleast you have the lovely Clare to give you cuddles, who needs cards when you have her. Sorry about your missed wager yesterday.

Hi Owen,
Yes all the trading reported on this blog is with Betdaq. Liquidity is a bit low just at the moment but it will pick up shortly. Good Luck.
