Well the Sports Trader has not had the best of starts to this week. I only managed to trade on 8 horse races and 1 football match but I lost on 3 horse races.
My day was helped by my trading on the Players Championship golf tournament last night where the event ended in the early hours of this morning and left me with a £48 profit.
The first trade that I had today was in the 14:00 at Southwell and this, along with my next trade, ended with a small profit. Then I started my run of three losing trades. The first was in the 16:30 at Southwell where I backed Titian Saga for £20 @ 7.80 when challenging for the lead just inside the final furlong but she was eventually beaten into third place which resulted in a £20 loss for me.
Next was the 18:50 at Towcester where I laid Vinnie Boy for £14 @ 4.00 when under pressure to stay on but stay on he did to win by a short head on the line and this cost me another £44.
The worst was still to come in the 19:40 at Killarney where I backed In A Rush,. the short priced favourite, for £220 @ 1.35 when in the lead and looking to have the race under control but she managed to get beaten to cost me another £220.
My next race was in the 20:10 at Killarney where I laid Zeroberto for £38 @ 6.00 to result in a profit, at last, of £38. I had 2 more small winning trades to round off my days race trading and had finished with a loss £239.
After racing I switched over to the Shrewsbury v Milton Keynes football match. With the game already into the second half and no goals scored there seemed to be no value in my favoured under 2.5 goals market so I decided to trade on the match result. I started with a back of the draw for £500 @ 1.91 and started to lay off @ 1.82 for £200 and then had further lays of £50 @ 1.80, £50 @ 1.72 and £100 @ 1.66. Next I backed the draw again for £193 @ 1.57 and resumed my lays for £93 @ 1.57, £100 @ 1.44, £50 @ 1.34 and £50 @ 1.22. Finally I greened up with a lay of £134 @ 1.11 and in the final 30 seconds backed the draw for £214 @ 1.07 to leave me with a profit of £148.
So a bad day had been partially turned round and I finished with a loss of £42.
Hi Ray,
The Shrewsbury v Milton Keynes game, I thought was a win only match - how did you trade in play?
Brett
P.S. I want to see you getting over a £1k/day again!

Hi WF,
I had looked for a market on this match with some value and this seemed to give me the best chance of making money. With these play offs being two-legged affairs and with very few shots on target in the first 70 minutes it just looked a good propostion. As you will see I should not have traded out as quickly and I would have made a lot more money but I am always happy to take a smaller profit with less risk. I also got the feeling that the Dons would happily settle for a draw being away from home.

Hi John,
You are the Golf King, I just try and nick a few quid in the last couple of hours play.
My computer is giving me problems but I have decided on the spec of my new machine and I should have it up and running within 2 weeks so I shouls have my edge back for in-running racing.
Good Luck.

Ray,
The figures don't look right. Horses + Football doesn't = £42 does it?

Hi Jen,
I had a £48 profit on the golf, less a £239 loss on horses and plus a £148 profit on the football which equals -£43 the other pound is because of rounding up or down to the nearest pound.

Ray,
Sorry I hadn't noticed the golf. I wondered if you had won more than £148 on the football.
