A solid day for the Sports Trader with 12 races traded and just two losing trades. I did miss some of the races today as my Au-pair could not make it into work.
My day started with the 14:30 at Hereford where I laid Hall of Fame for £20 @ 5.50 before backing back £10 @ 8.00 to leave me with a profit of £10.
My best result of the day came next in the 15:30 at Hereford where I laid Even Flo for £40 @ 7.20, Moscow Gold for £1 @ 50.00 and Layasar for £50 @ 5.00 and another £90 @ 1.30 to result in a profit of £181.
Then came my first loss of the day, and in fact my first losing trade for four days and 37 trades, which I think is my longest run of winners. This came in the 16:15 at Carlisle where I had backed Five Wishes for £45 @ 2.00 only to see her beaten on the line by a short head.
The next race I traded was the 16:00 at Hereford and one where I ended up with a small profit but in my opinion should have had a profit of £80. This was due to the result being over turned in the stewards room after winning on a photo finish. It could have been a lot worse as at one point I had a liability of £300 but traded out of this position when the stewards took so much time to come to their wrong decision.
My day got a lot worse with my next race trade in the 17:00 at Hereford when I thought that AP was well beaten on Country Escape and therefore laid him for £28 @ 6.00 to cost me £140.
In the 18:55 at Ballinrobe I laid Princess Nicole for £37 @ 11.50 before backing back £21 @ 21.00 to result in a profit of £16. I followed this with a small winning trade.
My second best result of the day came next in the 20:15 at Warwick where I laid Scotland The Brave for £170 @ 6.00 when well held with a furlong to go, which resulted in a profit of £170. My next trade resulted in a small profit.
In the 20:35 at Windsor I backed Fourteenth for £100 @ 1.60 before laying off £12 @ 1.38 to result in a profit of £55. I had another small winning trade next.
The final trade of my day was in the 21:15 at Warwick where I laid Sharmy for £10 @ 6.70 to give me a profit of £10.
My day had finished with a profit of £267.
Ray - I realise this is never relevant to your horse race trading as you only pay 2% commission on that - but is there a reason why you never mention Betmate for your football trades?
As far as I can see it only charges 3% commission instead of the usual 5% - but is an exact replica of the 'daq (e.g. all prices and liquidity are exactly the same).
Perhaps your reduction rate on Betdaq takes you below 3%?

Hi Tom,
I have never used Betmate, mainly because, as you say, most of my trading is on the UK horse racing, in-running, markets which have a low commission rate and had a 0% rate for 6 months.
My commission rate is also almost at the 3% rate any way. It is also easier for me at the end of a day, when writing my blog, to have all trades in just one account.
Good Luck with your trading.
Ray
