The Sports Trader

An unusually quite day was had by the Sports Trader today. This was mainly due to the fact that I had a lot of jobs to do about the house as I am going away for 4 days to Lugansk in the Ukraine. This is partly work and partly pleasure but I am looking forward to it very much.

Legend has it that the most beautiful women in the World live in this part of the World due to the fact that the Russian Empress Katherine did not want any women that she considered to be as good looking or better looking than herself to over shadow her own beauty and power, she therefore banished all these women to a new town named Lugansk, which was then a very remote area. I am looking forward to the site seeing. Back to today where I only traded on 4 horse races, with no losses.

My first trade was in the 14:40 at York where I backed Prospect Court for £300 @ 1.033 to result in a profit of £10.

The best result of my day came in the 15:50 at York where I laid Game Lad for £40 @ 11.00 for a £40 profit. I followed this up with a small winning trade.

My final trade was in the 19:35 at Salisbury where I laid By Command for £20 @ 5.00 to result in a profit of £20.

So my day had finished with a profit of £70.

Friday 13th July 2007

It has been another good day for the Sports Trader. I traded 15 horse races with 3 losing trades. It is very good to see much improved liquidity this week, on a stable platform and with low commission rates.

My day got off to a bad start in the 14:25 at Ascot where I backed Red Alert Day for £50 @ 1.40 to lose me £50.

In the 14:40 at Downpatrick I backed Mr Muffin Man for £20 @ 2.53 and laid all off at 2.04 to result in a profit of £10.

The best result of my day was in the 15:10 Darley July Cup at Newmarket when I laid Dutch Art for £622 @ 6.00 to result in a profit of £622.

In the 15:35 at Ascot I laid Swinbrook for £32 @ 6.50 to gain a profit of £32. I followed this with a small winning trade.

In the 16:10 at Ascot I backed Direct Debit for £32 @ 1.50 to result in a profit of £16. Next was another small winning trade.

Next was the second of my 3 losses of the day in the 18:30 at Chepstow where I backed Padre Nostro for £11 @ 3.95 which cost me a loss of £11.

I followed this with my last losing trade of the day in the 18:40 at Chester where I backed Steady As A Rock for £50 @ 3.00 which cost me another £50 loss. My next trade resulted in a small profit.

In the 20:00 at Chepstow I backed Guilded Warrior for £55 @ 1.51 to result in a profit of £28.

Next was the 20:10 at Chester where I started with a back of La Chicaluna for £50 @ 2.61, which I laid off @ 2.06. Then I laid her for another £30 @ 2.50. In the final furlong with La Chicaluna holding on to the lead I backed her for £10 @ 2.30 and £119 @ 2.00 to result in a profit of £114.

I finished my day off with 3 more small winning trades.

My day had finished with a profit of £729.

The Sports Trader has had a really good day today to make up for the slow start this week. I traded on 10 horse races and 1 football match and had no losing trades.

My day got underway in the 13:30 at Newmarket where I made a small profit. The best result of my day came next in the 14:00 July Stakes at Newmarket where I backed Winker Watson for £300 @ 2.00 to result in a profit of £300.

In the 14:20 at Warwick I laid Benhavis for £110 @ 9.20 to give me another £110 profit. I followed this with two more small winning trades.

In the 16:55 at Newmarket I backed Moorhouse Lad for £1000 @ slightly over 1.02 to result in a profit of £25. Next was another small winning trade.

In the 20:20 at Folkestone I backed Beau Michael for £55 @ 1.51 to result in a profit of £28. The last 2 race trades of my day both resulted in small profits.

I therefore finished my race trading with a profit of £482.

After racing I watched the remaining 30 minutes of the St.Patrick's v Tottenham football match. with the score at 0 - 1 in the 65th minute I backed the under 2.5 goals for £333 @ 1.63. I then started to gradually lay off my liability, starting with £103 @ 1.52 and followed with further lays @ 1.43 for £30, 1.40 for £30, 1.34 for £108 and 1.30 for £25. This left me with a profit of £87.

My day had finished with a profit of £569.

I would like to thank everybody for their comments left on my blog regarding the slow loading of my pages. I spent a couple of hours this morning playing around with some of the sites content and am pleased to see that it appears to be loading much quicker now. Apparently some of the widgets that I had been using where conflicting with each other, which meant that often the loading process would stall completely.

The Sports Trader was feeling a good bit better today but still traded cautiously to avoid another day like yesterday. In the end I traded 12 horse races with 1 loss.

My day started with 2 small winning trades. My only loss of the day came next in the 14:45 at Lingfield where I laid Shaded Edge for £3 @ 7.24 to lose me £19. I followed this with 2 more small winning trades.

In the 16:30 at Lingfield I backed Chant de Guerre for £400 @ 1.03 to result in a profit of £12.

Next was the 16:40 at Catterick where I laid Sands of Barra for £28 @ 4.50 before backing back £3 @ 32.00 to result in a profit of £25. My next 4 race trades all resulted in small profits.

The last trade of my day was in the 20:50 at Kempton where I laid Vallemeldee for £54 @ 12.00 to result in a profit of £54.

So after a long slow day I managed to finish with a profit of £80.

Tuesday 10th July 2007

Well I have proven to myself, once again, that if you do not feel 100% you should not be trading. I have not been feeling too good for a couple of days but today I felt a lot worse, it's only a cold but I have a high temperature with it and I just could not concentrate on anything properly. Perhaps I will learn the lesson this time, but I doubt it.

I only traded on 6 horse races all day long but 2 were losing trades. My first trade was the worst of my day and it was in the 14:30 at Lingfield where I laid Only A Game for £50 @ 6.00 to lose myself £250. I followed this with 2 small winning trades.

My next trade was in the 16:15 at Pontefract and here I backed Mr Wolf for £116 @ 5.00 to result in another big loss of £116. Again I followed this with a small winning trade.

The last trade of my day was next in the 20:40 at Uttoxeter where I backed Mighty Fine for £17 @ 3.75, £7 @ 2.44 £2 @ 1.70 and £50 @ 1.01 to result in a profit of £58.

My day had finished with a loss of £299.

Monday 9th July 2007

This new week has not started off too well for the Sports Trader. My first trade of the week, which was conducted late on Sunday night and early Monday morning, resulted in a loss which I managed to partially claw back through the day. I traded on 7 horse races and 2 football matches with 1 loss.

So that first trade was in the Portugal v Gambia U20 football match where I took a view and got it totally wrong. The score was 1 - 0 to Portugal and I decided that Portugal would win so I backed them for £250 @ 1.44. After watching the way the game was developing I decided to cover my position a little with a back of the draw at 2.78 for £88. Then Gambia go and score not once but twice. I did back Gambia for £271 @ 1.50 and a further £72 @ 1.18 to limit my loss to £190.

My horse race trading got under way with a small profit in the 14: 30 at Musselburgh. In the 15:30, also at Musselburgh, I backed Fol Hollow for £320 @ 1.30. to result in a profit of £96.

My next 2 trades both resulted in small profits. Then in the 20:25 at Ripon I laid Heywood for £22 @ 11.50 to result in a profit of £22. My next trade ended with a small profit.

The final trade of my day was in the Bohemians v Bray football match where I backed the under 2.5 goals for £228 @ 1.51 which I laid off @ 1.42 and then a little later I backed the unders again for £22 @ 1.15 to result in a profit of £22.

My day had therefore finished with a loss of £37.

I have been aware for the last 4 weeks of a problem with my blog showing up properly. I thought it was a problem at my end but have had several people email me about it and it appears that there is a problem with the host of my blog. It was a very slow day for the Sports Trader with only 7 horse races traded but with no losses.

The best trade of my day came first in the 14:40 at Market Rasen where I backed Bauhaus for £132 @ 1.60 to result in a profit of £79. I followed this with 3 small profitable trades.

In the 16:10 at Market Rasen I laid Almost Broke for £14 @ 70.00 to give me another £14 profit. My next trade resulted in a small profit.

The last trade of my day was in the 17:35 at Limerick where I laid Whatllwedonow for £12 @ 50.00. I also laid Big Syd for £2 @ 27.00 to result in a profit of £14.

My day had finished with a profit of £113.

This was also the end of another profitable week where I made £771 profit. I hope that the weeks to come will be busier than this one for me as racing has had a lot of abandoned meetings and Wimbledon has also diverted a lot of liquidity away from racing.

Saturday 7th July 2007

It was a good day for the Sports Trader with 9 horse races and 4 darts matches traded and with just 1 loss.

My day started with the 14:15 at Beverley where I laid Alpen Adventure for £60 @ 1.95 and backed Pequeno Dinero for £500 @ 1.01 to result in a profit of £65. I followed this with 5 small winning trades.

In the 17:35 at Bellewstown I had my only losing trade of the day when I backed Gap Princess for £50 @ 10.00 to lose me £50.

In the 17:55 at Bellewstown I laid Derrymore Dawn for £80 @ 6.00 to result in a profit of £80.

My last race trade of the day was in the 20:25 at Bellewstown where I laid Grand Corniche for £47 @ 13.00 to result in a profit of £47.

Mt race trading had finished with a profit of £160.

The first of the darts matches I traded was between Smith and Part where I backed Part for £252 @ 1.35 and laid off @ 1.27 to result in a profit of £18.

Next was the Lewis v Manley match where I started with a back of Manley for £38 @ 3.30 and laid off @ 2.70. I then backed him again for £105 @ 1.94 and laid this off @ 1.72. I then had one more lay of Manley to green up for £25 @ 1.71 and this left me with a profit of £28.

Next came the Barneveld V Scholten match where I backed Barney for £314 @ 1.28 and laid off @ 1.20. I then backed Barney again for £392 @ 1.21 and laid off @ 1.15. Next I backed him again for £925 @ 1.12 and laid off @ 1.05. Finally I laid Barney for £100 @ 1.04 to green up my position. I finished the match with a profit of £107.

My last trades of the day came in the Mawson v Jenkins darts match where I backed Jenkins for £665 @ 1.44 which I laid off at an average of 1.35 to result in a profit of £63.

My day had therefore finished with a profit of £376.

 

Friday 6th July 2007

The Sports Trader had a good day with 17 races and 2 darts matches traded and just 1 loss on the day.

My day started with the 14:05 at Sandown where I laid Zowington for £23 @ 8.00 to result in a profit of £23. I followed this with 11 small winning trades.

In the 18:35 at Wexford I started with a back of Lady Usk for £20 @ 2.00 and later backed Golden Moon for £463 @ 1.10 to result in a profit of £27. I followed this with 3 more small winning trades.

My last race trade of the day resulted in my only loss on the day and was in the 19:50 at Bellewstown where I laid Desert Mile for £13 @ 7.60 before backing back £8 @ 9.60 which left me with a loss of £17.

My race trading had resulted in a profit of £87.

In the evening I traded on the Part v Dudbridge darts match. I started with a back of Part for £944 @ 1.51 which I laid off @ 1.48. I then backed him again for £94 @ 1.63 which I laid off @ 1.58 to result in a profit of £21.

The other match I traded was between Smith and Young where I backed Smith for £283 @ 4.54 and laid off at an average of 3.85 and then laid another £50 @ 3.85 to leave me with an all green £50.

My day had therefore finished with a profit of £159.

Thursday 5th July 2007

The Sports Trader had a better day today and although there was only one afternoon meeting again, due to the weather, I did manage to trade on 16 horse races and 1 football match.

I got the day underway with a back of Shaker for £12 @ 1.66 in the 14:30 at Yarmouth to result in a profit of £8. My next race trade resulted in a small profit.

In the 15:30 at Yarmouth I encountered the first of 2 losses on the day when I backed Mugeba for £25 @ 3.20 before laying off £3 @ 3.05 and £5 @ 4.00 to result in a loss of £17.

In the  16:00 at Yarmouth I backed Dawn Sky for £45 @ 1.30 only to see him beaten on the line by a short head to cost me £45. I followed this with a small winning trade.

In the 17:00 at Yarmouth I laid Desert Hawk for £59 @ 3.00 to give me a profit of £59. My next 2 races both resulted in small profits.

My next trade was in the 18:50 at Bellewstown where I laid Ryanally for £27 @ 8.00 before backing back £14 @ 14.00 to result in a profit of £13. My next 2 trades both resulted in small profits.

In the 19:50 at Bellewstown I laid Warrens Castle for £13 @ 41.00 to land a profit of £13. I followed this with 2 more small, profitable trades.

My next trade was in the 20:20 at Bellewstown where I started with a lay of Oscar Night for £112 @ 2.60 before backing back £86 @ 3.20. On the run-in I backed Aldhaher for £383 @ 1.02 to result in a profit of £34.

The last race trade of my day was in the 20:50 at Bellewstown where I laid Miss Waggles for £12 @ 25.00 and backed Gracies Choice for £370 @ 1.01 to result in a profit of £16.

My race trading had produced a profit of £112.

After the racing I watched the last 15 minutes of the Basel v Celtic football match. With just 10 minutes to go and the score at 0 - 1 I backed the under 2.5 goals market for £225 @ 1.25 and later I backed the unders again for £6 @ 1.09 to result in a profit of £64.

My day had finished with a profit of £176.
